Summary & Overview

As a team of HR Business Partners supporting Pearson’s Assessments business and the technology teams you will provide varied HRBP support across both assigned leaders as well as local HR support to both MN, Iowa, and Texas. In this role you will own these key relationships while also partnering with other HR teams to deliver effective HR solutions across Talent Acquisitions, Employee Relations, and Talent Mgmt including both Performance Assessment as well as Pearson’s Annual Goals process.

In this role you will own both the tactical and administrative responsibilities across these areas while also liaising between employees and management to interpret policies Talent strategies including performance management.

As part of a Global Business, you will have an opportunity to work closely with a Centers of Expertise, the Pearson People Services (PPS) team and local HR colleagues to ensure the effective and global alignment HR service delivery.

The HR Business Partner will:

Employee Relations & Talent Mgmt

  • Ensure accurate interpretation of policies and procedures through effective relationships with management and employees.

  • As a resource to management and employees, respond to questions, concerns, and issues in an accurate and confidential manner.

  • Coach and support managers with all performance management matters, such as Performance Improvement Plans (PIP), terminations and ongoing performance feedback

  • Supports and leads Talent Mgmt practices for aligned leaders such as Talent Review and Succession Planning

  • Partners with local Facilities and Safety teams to guide Ergonomic processes, interpret/review medical information for risk as necessary and overall balance facilities practices with employee relations

  • Identify trends and escalate as necessary; follow-up with further analysis, as appropriate

Talent Acquisition & Immigration Support

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition teams to understand needs, strategize on techniques and provide consultation on offer process to deliver results and a seamless candidate experience

  • In partnership, own College Internship Program including planning, coordination, events, career fair strategy, campus relationship mgmt. and the overall experience to ensure a best in class program.

  • Partner with TA to interpret Immigration needs, timelines, budgets and recommendations to hiring managers while guiding candidates during offer process and upon joining.

  • For employees, monitor, strategize and determine effective immigration strategies consistent with company practices, budges, work authorization timelines and talent needs.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Provide support and recommendations regarding job and salary changes while ensuring overall equity and appropriateness within departments.

  • Participate in the administration of salary increase programs including Annual Salary Review (ASR), Annual Bonus Program (AIP) and other aspects of Total Rewards.

Communication & Coordination

  • Act as liaison between multiple company locations both within technology teams and across all groups

  • Communicate with employees and management staff regarding HR policies and programs through multiple forums: email, mass communications, Blogs, Presentations and virtual meetings.

Other duties and special project work as assigned.


Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field

  • 3 years of HR Generalist/Business Partner experience and/or a combination of Technical Talent Acquisition and/or HRBP experience

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong preference experience supporting for Engineering, Technology or general IT either as HRBP and/or Recruiter

  • Prefer strong administrative background through successful achievement in Employee Service Center and/or HR Administrator type role

  • Experience of successfully partnering with HR Business Partners

  • Analytics - Analysis and critical thinking that allows us to make informed business decisions with confidence.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to communicate to employees at all levels with tact and diplomacy.

  • Must be detail oriented and able to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

  • Ability to thrive in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment and demonstrate initiative/results with a customer focused "can do" approach.

  • Ability to effectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult and emotional issues

  • Experience with Human Resource Information Systems (Oracle and Taleo preferred)

  • Supports talent reviews and succession planning.
