Aboutthe job

As an HRGeneralistbased in our Belfast office you will be responsible for providing first rate HRsupport to Pearson Finance Services (PFS). You will work closely with UK HR team, senior business leaders andglobal HR Business Partners (HRBPs) to deliverpeople initiatives within PFS.Working in partnership with the business you’ll understand business drivers andchallenges, and play a critical role in the successful set up of PFS through pro-activelydriving people-related solutions, being innovative in your thinking andtenacious in your delivery.

Cultural transformation is oneof our largest challenges, and you’ll be required to roll out and supportpeople initiatives that underpin our ambitions, as well as coach and guidesenior leaders as they develop as managers and leaders. You’ll also have theopportunity to play a key role in workforce planning and employee onboarding, leadon complex employee relations issues, and contribute to employee engagement anddevelopment.

Main responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with and support UK HR Manager for Finance andPearson People Services (PPS) to ensure a seamless customer experience that empowerspeople managers & employees in a self-service culture.

  • Work closely with HRBPs & global HR ProjectManagers to ensure employee lifecycle activities, spanning performancemanagement, talent management and reward are delivered locally.

  • Coach and develop leaders and managers, up toand including Career Framework Grade ‘F’ (i.e. VP level), in people managementand leadership aspects of their role.

  • Proactivelyidentify opportunities for upskilling people managers in their corecompetencies i.e. managing performance, managing absence, and deliver trainingsessions in these areas and coordinate training requirements with L&D.

  • Workclosely with people managers and advise on a broad range of HR topics includingbut not limited to local employee engagement and other emergent issuesregarding HR policy, to ensure global policies are delivered locally in a legallycompliant way.

  • Workas part of the UK HR team to ensure that PFS are represented as part of widerFinance Enabling Function in the UK including adherence to UK HR and employment policies.

  • Drive/supportthe talent management agenda through facilitating talent reviews, departmentalsuccession planning and workforce planning.

  • Effectivelycollaborate with Centre of Excellence colleagues to ensure a smooth provisionof recruitment (onboarding and off-boarding), reward and global mobility activitiesas required.

  • Effectivelycase manage all PFS employee relations matters including disciplinary,grievance, flexible working and performance management plans in line withstatutory and third party legislation and regulation as required.

  • Championchange initiatives as we continue Pearson’s journey to embedding the new HRways of working and self-service environment.

  • Ensure

  • Supportthe maintenance of employee records, ensuring that accurate data is availableand statutory requirements are met.

  • Workwith the Department of Education and Learning (DEL) to develop governmentfunded specific training.

  • Ensureonboarding for new employees and offboarding for leavers is carried out in linewith Pearson standards.

  • Significantleadership experience (ideally with international dimension) and evidence ofbuilding new services and teams (preferably with SSC dimension)

  • Demonstrableevidence of establishing HR infrastructure, process and systems in challengingenvironment

  • Strongunderstanding of Northern Ireland employment law and its application

  • Strongbackground in training and development of training programmes

  • Comfortable participating in and providinginsight to highly strategic business discussions

  • Strong analytical mind, and provide proposalsfor improvement

  • Comfortably navigates ambiguous environments& complex matrix structures

  • Can clearly articulate reasons and positivesof continued change

  • Recognises the different requirements for businesspartner vs. service provider

  • Possess intellectual bandwidth to work acrossmultiple issues and business areas at once

  • Highly organised and with a strong work ethicto go above and beyond

  • A self-starter, displays ambition and drive togrow as a professional
